You may have a strong understanding of yourself. You’ve reflected, made connections, and tried to work through things—but certain patterns still show up.
You might feel anxious without a clear reason, emotionally reactive in ways that don’t match the situation, or stuck in relationship dynamics that are hard to change. Even when life is going well, your nervous system doesn’t always get the message.
EMDR therapy is designed to help with exactly this.
EMDR Therapy in Arlington & Online Across Texas
What EMDR therapy is
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain and nervous system process experiences that are still affecting how you feel today.
These experiences don’t always have to be “big trauma.” They can also include chronic stress, emotional neglect, or long-term patterns of pressure, criticism, or responsibility.
When the nervous system stays stuck in these patterns, it can show up as:
overthinking and rumination loops
anxiety that doesn’t fully settle
burnout or emotional exhaustion
perfectionism and fear of failure
feeling “on edge” or mentally overactive
EMDR helps reduce the emotional intensity tied to these experiences so they no longer feel as reactive or overwhelming.
Who I help
I specialize in EMDR therapy for high-achieving adults in Arlington and across the Dallas–Fort Worth area who often appear organized, responsible, and successful—but internally feel overstimulated, anxious, or never quite at ease.
Many of my clients struggle with:
chronic overthinking and mental replaying of conversations
high-functioning anxiety
burnout from over-responsibility or overfunctioning
perfectionism and fear of making mistakes
people-pleasing and difficulty setting boundaries
intrusive thoughts or obsessive doubt patterns
a persistent sense of “not enough”
Some clients also experience OCD-related symptoms, such as intrusive thoughts, mental checking, rumination loops, or difficulty trusting their own thoughts. In these cases, I may incorporate Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT) or CBT-informed approaches alongside EMDR.
How I work
integrated, trauma-informed approach
My primary modality is EMDR therapy, but I use an integrative, person-centered approach tailored to each client.
Depending on your needs, therapy may also include:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Helpful for identifying and working with thought patterns that reinforce anxiety, perfectionism, and avoidance cycles.
Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT) for OCD symptoms
Used for intrusive thoughts, obsessive doubt, and rumination patterns that feel sticky or hard to disengage from.
Somatic and nervous system-informed work
We pay attention to how anxiety, trauma, and burnout show up in the body—not just in thoughts. This can include grounding, regulation skills, and helping your system shift out of chronic fight-or-flight states.
Therapy is collaborative, and we adjust the approach based on what is most effective for your nervous system and goals at each stage.
Why EMDR works
Insight alone often isn’t enough to shift long-standing emotional patterns.
You may already understand why you overthink, why you people-please, or why you struggle with perfectionism—but your nervous system can still respond as if those old experiences are happening now.
EMDR helps the brain reprocess those experiences so they are no longer stored with the same emotional charge.
Over time, this can lead to:
less emotional reactivity
reduced overthinking and rumination
improved stress tolerance
fewer burnout cycles
more internal stability and ease
Burnout, anxiety, and overthinking in high-achieving adults
Many of my clients come to therapy feeling mentally “on” all the time.
Even when nothing is wrong, the mind stays active—planning, analyzing, reviewing, or anticipating what could go wrong next.
This can be especially common in high-achieving professionals and caregivers who have spent years staying responsible, anticipating needs, or managing pressure.
Therapy helps interrupt these cycles so your mind and body are no longer operating in constant overdrive.
